Public, Products Liability and Professional Indemnity

Appropriate level of insurance is a membership requirement, Health Fund requirement and a requirement under the National Code of Conduct for Health Care Workers. Massage & Myotherapy Australia has an Insurance partnership with Aon. New Aon clients, who are members of Massage & Myotherapy Australia will receive 18 months for the price of 12 when they buy their policy online.

While insurance is a membership requirement, the Aon discount is only provided with an Association number. If you are applying online, ignore the Insurance! This becomes your last requirement; the Association will provide you with a membership number you can quote to Aon. If you apply online, a membership number will be emailed to you, allowing you to receive the discount.

How do Provider Numbers work?

When you join the Association as a full member, the Association will take care of Health Fund administration on your behalf. When joining, we may discuss Private Health Fund eligibility before your membership is processed. Please note, some Health Funds have particular requirements. Once your membership application has been processed and your membership is complete, it may take four to six weeks for data to become live with the Private Health Funds. The Association and Private Health Funds have the following requirements:

  • Current First Aid (HLTAID011 or HLTAID003)
  • Current Public, Products Liability and Professional Indemnity
  • Clinic Details
  • Current CPE Points

 

Continuing Professional Education (CPE)

One of the most important obligations of Massage & Myotherapy Australia members is the requirement to maintain professional standards. When you join Massage & Myotherapy Australia, you are required to declare your ongoing compliance with the Massage & Myotherapy Australia Constitution, Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements. Compulsory CPE applies for both membership of Massage & Myotherapy Australia and for eligibility for approved provider status with private health funds.

  • Massage Members must always have 30 points valid at all times
  • Remedial Members must always have 40 valid at all times
  • Advanced Members must have 50 points valid at all times

When you join the Association, Massage & Myotherapy Australia will award you CPE Points for completing your qualification. This meets your CPE requirements for the first two years of membership.

Massage & Myotherapy Australia will waiver the $110 application fee for students members who upgrade their membership!

Applicants for membership may either choose to join online or lodge an application via mail. When lodging your application, please ensure you include the following documentation, this is imperative to ensuring your application is processed within 10 business days of receipt. Processing commences when all required documentation is received.

  • Massage Education Details – A certified certificate and full transcript. For student memberships, attach a certified letter from your school confirming your enrolment.
  • Copy of First Aid certificate (HLTAID011 or HLTAID003)
  • Certificate of Currency (Insurance documentation with a minimum of $2 million in Professional Indemnity and Public & Products Liability) - as soon as available. Click here to buy online if you do not have cover.
  • Statutory Declaration – signed, dated, and witnessed (see forms)
