Course Description
Susan Butcher of Oedema Institute is presenting the Lymphoedema Accreditation qualification course, recognised by the Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA) and designed for a range of health professionals, including but not limited to Physiotherapists, Registered Nurse, Osteopath, Medical Doctors, Speech Pathologists, Podiatrists, Massage and Myotherapists, and Occupational Therapists. It will give participants the opportunity to play a leading role in this underserviced area of the health landscape.

Lymphatic Massage Workshop
The updated approach leading to improved outcomes
Autoimmune dysfunctions, surgery, cancer diagnoses/treatment and more, can contribute to changes in the lymphatic system. New findings around Starlings Forces and imaging are changing the way we need to view the lymphatics and its role in the circulatory and immune system. This workshop will enhance practitioners understanding of the changes and why it is important to view the lymphatic system differently to a toxic waste disposal. Other areas addressed in the workshop will be hand pressure, techniques and the directional lymphatic pathway that leads to better patient outcome.
Areas to be covered:
- Overview of anatomy of the lymphatic system
- Learn and demonstrate new findings around the lymphatic system and the latest technology and advancements in imagery
- Learn optimal pressure to use and when
- Contraindications.
- Learn the difference between oedema, Lymphoedema and Lipoedema

Lymphoedema Accreditation Course

- Online component commences Sept 11th 2023
- Face to face component Nov 20th to 24th 2023
- Upper and Lower Modules combined. Does not include Head and Neck Module

The online component to this course will include 100hrs then 5 days face to-face. 80% pass is required on the online component before attending the face-to-face sessions. This evidence-based program will focus on the most up-to-date management pathways in treating Lymphoedema, Lipoedema and oedema related to vascular pathologies.
