Course Description
MOVABILITY
Our Movability course introduces the concept of movement therapy and performance enhancement to create simple and effective home care mobility and stability programs. Movability is a new paradigm for enhancing human movement. This course will clarify the “why” behind using the balls, bands, rollers, and tape to improve mobility and stability of the body using a joint by joint approach. By using movement assessment to determine planar dysfunction, participants will learn how to determine if the dysfunction is primarily a mobility or stability problem.
ROCKBLADES
At RockTape we encourage a different framework of approach to the use of tools. The RockBlades course presents an alternate model for IASTM work – what we define as “Instrument Assisted Neuro Sensory Modulation” or IANSM. This draws from current thinking of the way in which fascia behaves and the influence that manual therapy has on these tissues. Our IANSM model does not rely on traditional, at times aggressive treatment strategies using instruments, and shows how similar, if not better results can be achieved with more gentle methods.
SOFT TISSUE COURSE
Most manual therapists have traditionally been taught a very mechanical model when it comes to soft tissue therapy. Recently, many people would agree that the benefits we achieve with soft tissue therapy can be attributed to both the neurological effect as well as the biomechanical effect. This new RockTape Soft Tissue Course focuses on the integration of the neurological components of soft tissue therapy and the traditional benefits mechanically of soft tissue therapy. Our “less is more” approach helps you to get the best result for your clients, with the minimal effective dose.
This course will look at various manual therapy inputs such as using:
1. RockBlades (IASTM)
2. RockFloss bands (compression)
3. RockPods (cupping) and
4. Vibration Therapy (massage guns/devices)
The first part of the course will look at the proposed mechanisms of effect of soft tissue therapy at both brain and tissue level. We will learn how to use these different tools in isolation to create a therapeutic window for reducing pain and improving function, allowing us to better complete an exercise program to “lock in” our changes.
The second part will be a “masterclass” approach, with practice of how we might integrate the various tools into our management of common clinical scenarios.
The philosophy of RockTape courses is always to learn the concept not just the technique. This ensures that people understand the “why”, not just the “how”. This means that you can return to the clinic with some new treatment modalities and approaches that you can incorporate into your treatments immediately.
Attendees receive:
• Floss band – 5cm width
• RockPods – 1 x small and 1 x medium
• a copy of the presentation slides
• a certificate on completion
• the ability to purchase massage tools at a course discount for up to a week after the course.
