In order to offer Massage & Myotherapy members quality educational programs. The Association has developed criteria for course approval, the programs and presenters listed below meet the Massage & Myotherapy Endorsed Education Activities Program requirements.

Massage & Myotherapy would like to bring to the attention that when considering any form of coursework from an RTO, a Massage & Myotherapy Endorsed Education Activities Provider or any provider of education, that members read the terms and conditions thoroughly BEFORE registering and ask any questions about results, certification, refunds etc prior to payment.

Course Description


These courses teach the original Dr Vodder Method of MLD and are recognised by Dr Vodder Schools International and the Dr Vodder Akademie International. Successful completion of both Level 1 and Level 2 leads to a Certificate in Applied Manual Lymph Drainage and completion of the Level 1 and Level 3 courses leads to a Certificate in Dr Vodder’s MLD and Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT).

The Level 1 course includes teaches the very precise skin movements that make the Dr Vodder Method so effective in stimulating the lymphatic system and an online theory package which must be undertaken before attending the practical classes. The Certificate in Applied MLD (Level 1 and 2) covers all non-lymphedema pathologies including all acute and chronic inflammation such as frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel, post-operative oedema, rehabilitation from joint replacement or traumatic injury, CRPS, Meniere’s, cerebral oedema and recovery from stroke etc. These gentle techniques can replace heavy pressure and painful remedial techniques, such as trigger point therapy, without pain for the client and with much less stress on the body of the therapist. “If you have ever thought there has got to be a better way, then this is it!”

The Certificate in MLD and CDT (Level 1 and Level 3) covers all the vascular and lymphatic pathologies such as lymphoedema. Lipoedema and phleboedema, as well as compression therapies such as multilayer bandaging.

Certificate in MTC Lymph Taping Is course is open to lymphoedema therapists and teaches all the most up to date lymph taping techniques for lymphatic indications. Upon competition a certificate is awarded by Medical Taping Concept, Netherlands.

Jan Douglass

Jan has practised and taught manual body therapies since 1986 including developing and delivering health science subjects for students of massage therapy, occupational therapy and naturopathy. Since becoming a Dr Vodder Therapist in 1997 Jan has specialized in MLD & CDT and in 2002 became an accredited practical instructor with the Dr Vodder School. In 2017 Jan was accredited as a Lymph Taping instructor with Medical Taping Concept. Jan’s scope of experience includes eight years as senior lymphoedema therapist at Flinders Medical Centre Breast Oncology Clinic and as trial co-ordinator at Flinders University Lymphoedema Research Unit. Jan has presented at numerous conferences and seminars nationally and internationally. She completed her Honours Thesis on a yoga program for women with arm lymphoedema after breast cancer and wrote her PhD thesis on early detection of covert lymphatic dysfunction in young people infected with lymphatic filariasis in Myanmar. Jan is a consultant with the Centre for Neglected Tropical Diseases at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in the UK where she provides advice and training in morbidity management in the global program to eliminate lymphatic filariasis.

Diane Lacey

Diane has been involved in healthcare since 1985 and graduated as a Registered Nurse at Foresterhill College of Nursing & Midwifery, Aberdeen, Scotland in 1989. She obtained a Bachelor of Nursing Degree at Dundee University, Scotland in 1998. Diane has practiced as a Theatre Nurse in various specialties in both Scotland and New Zealand, holding senior nursing positions in General, Orthopeadics and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.00B

Diane’s journey into Complimentary Therapies began in 2003 when she commenced studies with the New Zealand College of Massage where she went on to obtain a Diploma in Therapeutic Massage in 2007. During this time she became interested in the Lymphatic System after attending a Nursing Conference where the benefits of pre and post-operative Manual Lymph Drainage was presented. She was intrigued by the wide ranging beneficial effects that such a gentle technique can provide and in 2008 completed post graduate training in MLD & CDT at the Dr Vodder School in Austria.

Diane has been running a private clinic specialising in MLD and CDT in Pukekohe, Auckland, New Zealand since 2009. She is a provider for the Sweet Louise foundation offering Relaxation, Therapeutic Massage and Lymphoedema Therapy for people with Incurable Breast Cancer and is passionate about helping people improve their quality of life. In 2018 Diane became certified as a Dr Vodder Basic Teacher, and she looks forward to teaching others this potentially life changing therapy.

Koby Blanchfield

Koby is a Registered Massage Therapist specialising in lymphatic pathologies since 1992 and was first certified as a Dr. Vodder Instructor in 1995. Koby has had the privilege of teaching on several continents and working with students of diverse disciplines. She has presented at many conferences: lymphedema, wound care, world conference on breast cancer, and scientific aesthetician. She has sat on the Boards of several organizations, and is currently on the Education Working Group of the Canadian Lymphedema Framework. Koby has been a member in good standing with the International Society of Lymphology (ISL) since 2001 and is a member of the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA). She is passionate about the Dr. Vodder method of Manual Lymph Drainage, and enjoys seeing the benefit it brings to patients. “It feels like teaching is a natural extension of my clinical practice. Plus it has a wonderful exponential advantage. Sharing knowledge with therapists means more patients will benefit.”
