Neck & Upper Extremities
On our two day ‘Corrective Manual Therapy’ seminar for ‘Neck and Upper Extremity issues‘ you will learn some of the most effective approaches for assessing and treating chronic Cervical, Thoracic and Upper Extremity pain problems. You will practice pain-free techniques that simultaneously address joint issues, utilise neurological responses and treat soft tissues to increase hydration and pliability.
This innovative Neck and Upper Extremity seminar is based on Aubrey Gowing’s assessment, treatment and home care protocols. This sequencing can help therapists quickly identify and treat common Sports injuries and overuse conditions such as Forward head posture and Rotator Cuff injury, Thoracic outlet, Golfers elbow, Tennis elbow and Carpal tunnel. This seminar is for therapists who wish to dramatically improve treatment outcomes and shorten the route to success with each client.

The Neck – Supine:
- Myofascial treatment – The velvet glove
- GTO techniques
- Treat the scalenes and their attachments
- Assess and mobilise upper ribs
- Decompress the cervical spine
- Assess and treat the cervical facet joints
- Restore ROM
- Home care for the neck
The Shoulder:
- Myofascial release for Pectoralis major & minor
- STR for the attachment of platysma and subclavius
- Myofascial treatment for Subclavius
- Assess and treat Subacromial impingement
- Myofascial treatment for deltoid
- Myofascial treatment for Bicep & Tricep
- STR for Bicep & Tricep
- Myofascial technique for Infraspinatus & Supraspinatus
- Home care for the shoulder
The Arm:
- Myofascial treatment for Bicep & Tricep
- STR for Bicep & Tricep
- Myofascial treatment applied to the forearm flexors
- Active engagement
- STR applied to the tendons of the wrist flexors
Wrist and forearm extensors:
- Assess & treat the carpals and extensor retinaculum
- Myofascial technique applied to the forearm extensors
- STR for the extensor muscles
- Active engagement for the extensors
The Hand:
- Treating Trigger Fingers (Tenosynovitis)
- Mobilising the carpal, metacarpal / pharyngeal and inter-pharyngeal joints
- Home care for the arm & hand

Aubrey Gowing
Aubrey is a college director at Holistic College Dublin, and program developer for our cutting edge Sports Massage course and C.P.D. workshops. His 36 years clinical experience and 31 years teaching experience, enables him to bring high standards of professionalism and expertise to each diploma course and seminar. His qualifications include: Diplomas in Holistic Massage, Yoga Teaching, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Healing Therapy, Indian Head Massage, Seated On-Site Massage, Stone Therapy, Pregnancy Massage, Fitness Instruction and Personal training, Therapeutic Massage, Sports Massage levels 3,4 & 5, Orthopaedic Massage, Myoskeletal Therapy, Neuro-Structural Integration and certificates in Delivering Learning and Occupational First Aid.
Aubrey is the author of four books, the acclaimed ”Myoskeletal and Sports Therapy‘ series and the newly released ‘Kinesiology Taping Strategies‘ all of which reflect his ongoing interest in the pain free treatment of overuse, repetitive strain and chronic injuries. In addition to his busy international lecturing schedule, he has also served three successful terms as President of the Irish Massage Therapists Association. Aubrey is also a registered I.T.E.C instructor, and is on the national register of trainers with FAS/ Enterprise Ireland.
