Welcome to the December eNews!
|
May I introduce myself? My name is Daniel Lambrou and I am the Communications and Services Team Supervisor for Massage & Myotherapy Australia and I am now Editor of the eNews. I’ve been with the Association for almost eight years and during that time, I’ve learned more about massage and myotherapy than I ever thought I could! The Association will end the year continuing to work towards our Strategic Plan. Two of the major achievements we’ve made this year include launching the Certified Specialist® Program. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s definitely time to learn more. The Association also worked hard to keep massage therapy and myotherapy covered under government changes to private health insurance. And there are many more achievements yet to come: we’ll keep you informed through the eNews and the Journal. On behalf of staff and the Board of Directors, have a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Director retirement
Massage & Myotherapy Australia announces the retirement of Rebecca Byrne after six years on the Association’s Board. Rebecca, a well-respected member of the Board, brought us her exceptional communication skills and considered decision-making processes - always with the members’ and Association’s position at the forefront. We are pleased to advise that Rebecca will remain as Chair of the National Ethics Committee as well as representing Massage & Myotherapy Australia on the Technical Advisory Committee for the development of the Advanced Diploma in Massage throughout 2020. |

Certified Specialist® Update
Ann Davey and Kevin Skillen recently completed three workshops across Queensland on becoming a Certified Specialist®. All three were well attended with a significant number of members submitting applications to join the Certification Program. Feedback from attendees indicated that the workshops were hugely valuable and provided clarity about why practitioners are becoming a Certified Specialist® and how straightforward the process is. Further workshops are planned around the country for 2020 so watch this space.
