Shepparton lockdown lifting at midnight / Ballarat entering week-long lockdown

The Victorian Government has announced that the current lockdown in the greater Shepparton area will ease tonight Wednesday 15 September at 11.59pm AEST. The restrictions for Shepparton will be the same as the rest of regional Victoria. For more information on today's announcements click here.

From midnight tonight massage therapists, remedial massage therapists and myotherapists in the greater Shepparton area will be permitted to resume routine services. Face masks will be required by therapists and clients. It is the Association's understanding, treating from home-based clinics will be permitted and mobile massage will also be permitted as long as the therapist is located in regional Victoria and does not travel into metropolitan Melbourne or the Ballarat area to treat.

Ballarat to enter lockdown

The Victorian Government also announced that the City of Ballarat will reenter lockdown tonight Wednesday 15 September at 11.59pm AEST until at least Wednesday 22 September at 11.59pm AEST, due to a concerning rise in COVID-19 case numbers. The City of Ballarat will have the same restrictions in place as metropolitan Melbourne except for the curfew.

During the lockdown, only authorised health services will be permitted to continue treating. Massage therapy, remedial massage therapy and myotherapy are not listed as authorised health services that are permitted to treat during the lockdown.

Massage & Myotherapy Australia will continue to monitor the situation and notify members of any changes to directions.
