South Australia Update on Single-use Surgical Masks
Update 3/12/2020: Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier has announced that single-use surgical masks will not be a requirement in health care settings and that cloth masks will be acceptable. We will update members when the new directive is released.
The Association has now received clarity that massage therapists, remedial massage therapists and myotherapists are included in the directive that requires all people in health care settings to wear a single-use surgical mask (covering mouth and nose) at all times when in the physical presence of other people on the premises. Reusable cloth masks are not sufficient. These requirements are for all people on the premises, including clients and staff.
More information can be found on the SA Health website. A list of frequently asked questions, including a list of valid reasons to not wear a mask, can be found here.
Massage & Myotherapy Australia will continue to monitor the situation and notify members of any additional changes to directions.
