Update on Home-Based Clinics in Victoria

There has been a change in directions for home-based clinics in Victoria. On the State Government's COVID-19 General Business FAQ webpage, the following is in response to the question 'I operate a business from my home. Am I subject to the same restrictions as other businesses in my industry?':

... If a home-based business meets the requirements of a discrete work area, it is permitted to operate subject to the restrictions of their industry. If the home-based business does not meet these requirements, it is not permitted to reopen under the current restriction levels in regional Victoria or metropolitan Melbourne.

Business Victoria has been unable to clarify the exact meaning of a 'discrete work area' but did note that the restrictions on separate entrances, toilet facilities, etc were no longer present. The Association recommends that home-based clinics that are planning to reopen meet Association Clinical Settings Guidelines. The Association also recommends therapists operating out of home-based clinics contact their local council as there may be additional requirements set by the council that need to be met.

Massage & Myotherapy Australia will continue to monitor the situation and notify members of any additional changes to directions.
