SA Parafield Cluster Restrictions Update
Update: The Association has now received direct confirmation from SA Health that wearing a mask is mandatory when providing therapeutic massage, remedial massage and myotherapy in South Australia. This is in contrast to previous advice, which only stated that relaxation massage and other personal services were required to wear masks while seeing clients. It is also encouraged, but not required, for clients to wear masks at this time.
In the wake of the recent cluster outbreak in Parafield, Adelaide, South Australia Health have issued some updated directives. There are no additional restrictions on therapeutic massage therapists, remedial massage therapists or myotherapists in South Australia outside of the following specific circumstances:
- Those who work in aged care must now wear a mask (in addition to what was already outlined in our previous update)
- Clinics located within gyms must temporarily relocate or close for an expected duration of two weeks
More information about the new restrictions can be found here. If you have not already done so, please ensure you have an up to date COVID-Safe Plan in place. If you have any questions or concerns, you can find a list of help and information phone lines by clicking here.
Massage & Myotherapy Australia will continue to monitor the situation and notify members of any updates as soon as they are available.
