Update Regarding Restrictions in Metropolitan Melbourne
Further to our update this morning, we have now received confirmation from the Chief Allied Officer that massage therapy, remedial massage therapy and myotherapy are not included in the easing of restrictions – this means that you are unable to return to routine services at this time.
This is not the news any of us wanted to hear today and we are fully aware how devastating these restrictions have been for our metropolitan Melbourne members. At the end of this email is a table of support services that can be accessed by anyone who is experiencing financial issues, anxiety, stress or depression.
The Chief Allied Health Officer also recognises and acknowledges how difficult this has been for you, our members, since the commencement of the Stage 4 restrictions for metro Melbourne, and the impacts of the restrictions on the provision of care and services and she personally appreciates the valued services to many in the community. The focus of staged restrictions has been on ensuring public safety and controlling the gradual increase in the movement of individuals within their community, including limiting the number of health practitioners who may be providing prolonged interpersonal care and services.
The Chief Allied Health Officer has committed to keeping us updated and has also advised that at this point, it is likely further restrictions will be eased prior to a move to Third Step restrictions, which are stated to happen on or before 11.59pm 1 November, 2020.
As your professional association we will continue to advocate on your behalf to have you returning to work earlier than the next goal post that is set for no longer than 12 days’ time, and will communicate any updates to you as they arise.
