Update on CIT remedial massage therapy and massage therapy training in the ACT
We know many members and employers in Canberra have been concerned about the future of remedial massage therapy and massage therapy training at Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT), particularly following local media reports and the extended pause in course delivery. Throughout this process, Massage & Myotherapy Australia has supported CIT providing industry feedback as part of CIT’s review of its remedial massage therapy and massage therapy qualifications.
CIT has now advised Massage & Myotherapy Australia that it has completed a comprehensive internal review. The internal governance process is nearing completion and the final decision now sits with the external regulator. Once approval is received, hopefully in the coming weeks, CIT plans to recommence promotion of its remedial massage therapy and massage therapy courses alongside its full range of more than 250 other courses.
Massage & Myotherapy Australia welcomes this update. We recognise the significant role CIT graduates play in the workforce and the impact this course has had on the profession for more than three decades. We will continue to advocate for strong, sustainable training pathways in the ACT and keep members informed as further information becomes available.
