'.au' domain name update for business owners
If you are not already aware, you can now register domain names ending directly in .au, removing the .com/.net/.asn/.org,etc. Small businesses are urged to do this as soon as possible.
Domain name owners only have until the 21st of September to apply for priority registration of the .au equivalent of their domain name, after which they will become available to the general public to register. For instance, if a small business has website called iloveshoes.com.au (not a real website), no one can register iloveshoes.au because we're in the priority access period. But if the owner of the .com.au site doesn't register the .au direct version by the deadline, then that changes and anyone could purchase iloveshoes.au.
