Massage & Myotherapy Australia Updates

  • 21 April: Update on Aon Health Combined Professional Indemnity, Public & Products Liability Policy
    • This update seeks to answer some commonly asked questions relating to cover under the Aon Health Combined Professional Indemnity, Public and Products Liability Policy around the impacts on cover of temporarily or permanently ceasing to provide professional services.
  • 20 April: Applications for JobKeeper are Now Open
    • Applications for the Government's JobKeeper Stimulus Package are now open. Business owners and sole traders who have been affected by COVID-19 may be eligible to apply.
  • 8 April: First Aid Amnesty
    • The number of Private Health Funds have agreed to join Massage & Myotherapy Australia to provide leniency for members with a First Aid qualification that is expiring.
  • 7 April: HICAPS is Here to Help
    • HICAPS will be waiving the monthly terminal fee for three months to assist impacted customers in the recovery from the current COVID-19.
  • 6 April: Member Care Package Announcement
    • The Massage & Myotherapy Australia staff and Board of Directors have developed a care package to support members during this difficult time. This includes a three month deferral on financial memberships.
  • 6 April: Aon COVID-19 Questions
    • Aon Insurance have provided us with some information regarding some frequently asked questions they are receiving from members.
  • 27 March: COVID-19 Advice and Assistance for Members
    • The following may aid you in managing your circumstances during COVID-19.
  • 25 March: An Important Message from your Association in the Wake of the Prime Minister's Recent Announcements
    • As the environment in which we live and practice is changing rapidly, all non-essential contact services of more than 30 minutes is to cease as of midnight today the 25th March 2020.
  • 23 March: An Update from Your Association
    • While our office is currently open and operating business as usual, we would like to provide our members with an update regarding the contingencies that have been put into place should the COVID-19 pandemic reach a point where workplaces, including ours, are required to close.

Joint Associations Updates

  • 2 June: Joint Associations 2nd of June Update
    • As we begin to understand how Government plan to ease on restrictions applied throughout COVID-19, as children return to school, some workers make their way back into offices and many of you, our members, begin to consider what a return to practice looks like, or begin extending appointment availability, we would like to take this moment to reflect.
  • 1 May: Joint Associations 1st of May Update
    • To date, we now have formal confirmation from all states that myotherapy and remedial massage are deemed essential services!
  • 17 April: Latest COVID-19 Update on States and Territories
    • The Joint Associations have worked together to provide the following list of the states and territories where remedial and myotherapy is permitted and not permitted. This list includes updates on some states that were previously unknown, such as Tasmania.
  • 9 April: Joint Associations Easter Update
    • Joint statement from four Associations providing an update on what your Associations are currently working on.
  • 31 March: Update - COVID-19: Alternative Therapies
    • As of Tuesday 31st March, we have been advised that massage is considered a non-essential service in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Victoria, and therefore remedial massage therapists in those states should cease face to face practice immediately.
  • 31 March: Clear the Confusion - One Clear Definition for Permitted Healthcare Services
    • Joint statement from four Associations calling to adopt one single, clear definition of health professions permitted to operate on an in-person basis under the current COVID-19 restrictions.
  • 27 March: Industry Associations Unite
    • Four Associations have joined together to issue this joint statement to help all of our members better understand the current situation as it applies to massage and myotherapy.

  • Aon Free Webinar
    • Massage & Myotherapy Australia have worked together with our insurance partner Aon to provide members a free Webinar, titled 'Volatile Times: The risks for all massage therapists and how to manage them', that focuses on the added risks that need to be considered in a COVID-19 world. Massage & Myotherapy Australia members are able to claim 10 CPE points upon completion of this Webinar.
  • COVID-19 Related Complications article by Ruth Werner
    • The Association is proud to provide members an article that is of interest to all massage therapists and myotherapists. The article has been written to inform therapists on what they need to know about treating clients who have previously contracted COVID-19 by outlining the possible long-term complications that can be caused by the virus and break down the implications for massage therapists.
