This two-part education module explores the essential role research plays in shaping and informing massage and myotherapy practice. The first session, challenges the perception of research as inaccessible, reframing it as a valuable tool for professional growth and patient care. It examines how research is defined within the profession, what makes it meaningful, and why understanding its value is vital for therapists. Participants are introduced to examples of current, relevant studies that affirm the physiological, mental, and emotional benefits of massage, and shown how research is being applied internationally to strengthen and guide the profession.

The second session, demystifies the process of finding, reading, and understanding evidence-based research. It offers practical strategies for locating studies that support clinical observations, breaking down papers into manageable sections, and identifying qualities that make research valid and meaningful. Therapists are guided in critically evaluating massage and myotherapy-specific studies, learning how to apply findings to practice, and exploring ways to conduct their own research, whether through case studies, surveys, interviews, or meta-analyses.

Together, this module will provide a clear, engaging pathway for practitioners to confidently connect with research, apply it in their clinical work, and contribute to the growing body of knowledge in the field.
