Ever released a muscle spasm in a client only to find it back again on their next visit? Perhaps they have a protective reflex in their nervous system perpetuating this myofascial imbalance.
Counterstrain is a gentle manual therapy that uses tender points to identify neuro-myofascial dysfunction. The therapist applies specific positioning in the direction of ease to eliminate the strain reflex and tender point, release myofascial tension and reduce pain.
This approach can be adapted to treat all the systems in the body.
