Description:

A one day, hands on workshop for Myotherapists, Remedial Massage Therapists and Allied Health professionals, focusing on the function of the lumbar and pelvic musculature.

Quadratus Lumborum is commonly held responsible for a lot of lower back complaints, and rightly so. Its referral pattern stretches broadly across the lumbar spine creating that nagging tightness, but the QL is more often the messenger of the discomfort, not the cause of the problem. They can tighten up in reaction to: weaknesses elsewhere, inefficient motor patterns of gluteal function, poor coordination of the hip hinge pattern and pelvic stability. Any of these can contribute to this lower back pain.

Attendees will be shown quick and effective ways to assess and treat the more common problem muscles involved in lower back and Gluteal pain presentations.

You will get massage treatment options that are easier on the therapist, providing longevity for the therapist but effective outcome for the patient. Find the restrictions faster and get the techniques for treatment that can save you as a therapist. A targeted and structured treatment approach.

You will also be given the tools and exercises to differentiate the motor patterns involved in the dysfunction, and prescribe a comprehensive exercise protocol, for initial stage rehabilitation.

Begin to learn where the appropriate application of manual therapy and exercise prescription should be applied, making you a more effective therapist.

This workshop is a new addition to the NMSC ’Muscular’ series.
